Mazzy Star was/is a band started by guitarist David Roback with Hope Sandoval on vocals. The band had a long run with various breaks then reunions . They were performing as of 2018 and released an E.P titled “Still” in 2018. David Roback passed away in 2020 following a battle with cancer.

Following Roback's death in 2020, Sandoval and Ewers are the last surviving members of the band's original lineup. The band released the album She Hangs Brightly in 1990, So Tonight That I Might See in 1993 (the album went platinum in 1995), and Among My Swan in 1996.

Clarence Alphonse Gagnon was born in Montreal, Quebec on November 8, 1881. He was the son of Alphonse E. Gagnon, a milling manager, and a cultured English mother, who was interested in literature. Part of his childhood was spent in Sainte Rose, a village north of Montreal.

She was the second of five children of farmer Télesphore Gagnon and his first wife Marie-Anne Caron, whom he had married in September 1906. They lived in Fortierville, Quebec, a small village on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, 100 kilometers southwest of Quebec City.

__ Hope Sandoval was born June 24, 1966 and grew up in east L.A. with her Mexican-American family. She started her career with her friend Sylvia Gomez in a folk duo called Going Home in 1986. Hope would later form Mazzy Star with David Roback and release 3 albums in the 1990s.
